Dissavril to skip Sandown with Aintree in mind

Dissavril will step up in class at Aintree next month after connections of the potentially exciting mare decided against running her at Sandown on Saturday.

Emma Lavelle's six-year-old grey made a big impression on her British debut at Market Rasen in January when she won a Listed mares' bumper by two and a quarter lengths.

Dissavril had been thought likely to contest a similar race at the weekend, but she will instead head to Aintree for the Grade Two mares' bumper on April 12.

Owner Paul Jacobs said: "I took a view that we would rather keep her for Aintree.

"The ground might be chewed up at Sandown so I think spring ground at Aintree might suit her far better than running her at a tough, uphill track, when the going might not be in her favour.

"She will also not have to carry a 4lb penalty at Aintree and I think the track, on better ground, will be better for her.

"Having won a Listed race, she deserves a shot at a Grade Two."
